Jharkhand overtake Orissa in women`s league

Bengal and Jharkhand advanced to the all-India women`s inter-zonal cricket championship by virtue of emerging champions and runners-up respectively in the East Zone two-day league which concluded at Cuttack today. Bengal topped the table with 24 points after ending their last league matchin a draw against Orissa, who finished third with 17 points. Jharkhand crushed Sikkimg by an innings and 113 runs to secure six points in another last-round match. These six points helped Jharkhand overtake Orissa and finish second in the zone with 19 points. The league clash between Assam and Tripura also ended in a draw. Brief scores: At Barabati Stadium: Bengal 222 and 98/0 (Rituparna Ray 52 n.o) drew with Orissa 81/10 (Kadambini Mahakud 44 Riya Choudhury 3/25). At Nimpur ground: Jharkhand 187/3 in 41 overs (Seema Singh 82 n.o) beat Sikkim 25/10 and 49/10 (Seema Desai 5/15, Niharika 3/2). At Ravenshaw ground: Manipur 157/10 and 95/2 (K Mangan Leima 50 n.o) drew with Assam 163/5 (Mandeep Kaur 63: Y Milan Chanu 4/61).
